The original islands are installed in the folders C:\Anno1602\Nord and C:\Anno1602\Sued or the corresponding directories of your installation path.
FAQ #2: How can I load an island quickly into the Island Editor without always "climbing" through the whole directory tree?
Simply add shortcuts of your frequently used folders to the desktop, and with a (double-) click on the corresponding file the island will be loaded into the Island Editor. Recently edited islands appear also under "Documents" in the Windows Start menu.
FAQ #3: What are the red spots on some of the islands?
These spots simply mean "unsupported fields". They may be buildings, roads, natives huts etc, everything that can be set in the scenario editor and that the Island Editor cannot cope with.
FAQ #4: Some islands show only lots of white spots with black crosses. What's the problem there?
The Island Editor can only work with "naked" islands, with names xxxyy.scp, where xxx is one of lar/big/med/mit/lit and yy is a two-digit number. Example: big37.scp. (This is valid for the original islands of the game, - of course you can store your own ones with any name.) Those special islands in question with the black crosses finish also with .scp but are used as sort of "construction files" for certain scenarios. They cannot yet be edited correctly with the Island Editor but can't be distinguished by him from "normal" ones.
FAQ #5: Now, how do I load a created island into the scenario editor?
FAQ #6: The Random Tiles button doesn't work correctly with coast lines - many tiles have a wrong orientation and must be turned back one by one to the right direction.
The Random Tiles function keeps the original orientation as it is. It's better to set first a stripe of coast with uniform orientation and equal tiles. Then you click the Random Tiles button - and now all tiles have the right orientation.
FAQ #7: And where do I find islands in the Internet?
Nearly all existing islands can be browsed and downloaded from Gido Creutzinger's Island Catalogue. Other good download sites are Joes Anno 1602 Inn or St.Gerner's homepage.
FAQ #8: When I publish a scenario with self-made islands, do I
have to ship the .scp file
together with the .szs file?
No, all islands are part of the scenario file - the user doesn't need
the .scp file in addition.
By the way: You can load islands into the Island Editor just by (double-) clicking on the .scp file in the explorer / desktop.
